My (fairly old) washing machine door won't open at the end of the washing cycle. I've tried leaving it switched off for a while and turning the dial to different settings. Can anyone suggest a solution before the towels inside get too smelly please!!
With the machine unplugged, take the lid off and find the door switch. With any luck you will be able to see a small square hole in the door switch where the hook on the door latch locates. With even more luck you will see the end of that hook poking through the back of the hole. Try to get a small flat blade screwdriver onto that hook and lever it to your left. If the problem is related to the door handle that should open it. If the problem is related to the door switch you will probably need to destroy the switch to open the machine but if it is faulty anyway that won't matter. For better access you can loosen the cabinet front which is held by screws on its bottom edge.
