Hello,

We have a conservatory which is 3.5 x 4.5 double hipped poly carbon on timber trusses. We have just had the windows replace from timber to pvc and next up will be to look at boarding the roof either using a decent quality felt shingle or plastic tile after boarding it out.

We have one problem though, the pitch of the roof is quiet low and has a spreader bar? going across. So I know if we remove this we risk the roof pushing out but as its timber is there any other way to do this replacing the spreader with timbers so we can plasterboard the ceiling without having the bar on show?

will take pics in the morning if needed.

If you are going to have a flat ceiling then your ceiling ties can take the place of the spreader bar.

How do you mean ceiling ties?

I think possibly a piece from one of the apex to the other across all three or something else?
