Hi all,

Just got to thinking about this weekends work, and need some advice.

Wooden flooring on concrete base. Plan to put skirting in after the flooring so that it fits neatly over the expansion gap. Trouble is that the mortar behind the old skirting is so uneven, I am wondering how I am going to use the spacers to keep my wooden flooring straight?

What I dont wont is to have to put in the skirting first then quadrants afterwards.

Any thoughts?

if the brickwork itself is fair, knock off the old mortar or plaster.

You can if you want screw battens to the wall and fix your skirting to them. that can give you a good straight line. You can pack out the battens in places if need be and repair the plaster to line up with them.

Thanks for the reply JohnD,

Unfortunately, the brickwork is far from fair, and there is not enough depth to insert battens.

Looks like I'm stuck with skirting AND quadrants.

Thanks anyways,
