Just found this statement on another forum

If you want something really difficult try explaining the offside rule to a female

Thought Dianne might like it.

Well, being football, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Is it something to do with spitting?

this is how I remember the off side rule.....

You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.

The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses.

It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes.

The shop assistant remains at the till waiting.

Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma.

She prepares to throw her purse to you.

If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes!

At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes!

BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE!

easy!! :D  :p

Sue says its easier than that:

You're in a shoe shop, in the queue for the till (goal).

The shop assistant (goalkeeper) is in front of the till.

Your friend has a pair of shoes that you want to buy before someone else does. (get the ball in the goal).

The shop assistant remains at the till waiting. (goalkeeper in front of goal)

Your friend prepares to throw the shoes to you so you can pay for them.

Before she throws them, you have to wait for another shopper to move between you and the till!

If she throws the shoes, whether you catch them or not, and there is not another shopper between you and the till, you are offside.

easy!! :D

Showed the missus and it gave a good giggle :D :D

Crikey. I had the wrong Di in mind.

Thought it was going to start:- so you're in the back seat of a car, doing 100+ in a Parisian underpass. In front of you there's a pi$$ed chauffer and in front of the car there's a SAS assassination squad. Behind you there's paparazzi with 1 billion Watt flashbulbs, paid for by the Duke of Edinburgh...

a caveat though, if the friend is standing at the side of the till (a corner) then you may move in front, before the purse is thrown.

...and one of the comments from Ellal's link..

Yeah but she could stand in front of the other shopper and look like she was going to pick the shoes up, distracting the shop assistant, while friend 2 is looking at the shoe polish, still behind the other shopper. Then friend 1 throws purse to friend 2, while you walk back behind the other shopper, then friend 2 throws purse to you.

That would make you a second phase purchaser and is completely acceptable. You get the shoes while the first shopper gets nothing, feels hard done by and calls for clarification from the shop manager.

Far too complex for me, shopping
