What is the maximum height (from hob) I could get away with for 600mm wide extractor fan/hood? The manufacturers recommendation is 600mm for an electric hob. However, having placed it in that position it appears far too low and doesnt look right. However, I don't want to place it too high that it makes the unit in-effective!

Any recommendations?

1000m

(cooker is 850 high... lots of people are 1800 tall and shouldn't have to bang their heads on the hood as they lean over to look in the pans.

Agreed,

Ours is as high as it needs to be so that I don't bang my head and it still works fine.

It's 1m90 ish so just over a metre above the worktop.

also depends on the height of your ceiling, I had to adjust ours to allow for the Chimney Hood extractor.
