This has just recently started, the water pipes in our house have started to moan and groan really loudly. I have stayed in the house for over 20 years and this is the first time this has ever happened.

I have noticed that a hooked shaped pipe on the roof is now bent over and creased, when l follow the pipe into the loft, it looks like it is connected to the cold water feed.

sounds like that`s a vent pipe on the roof and could be sealed/partially blocked where it`s got bent .......if it`s on the heating , then it could just be causing the problem .........either way it needs that crease taking out by cutting and replacing section -possibly with a burst pipe repair type long compression coupling ..if it`s copper pipe

The problem is intermitint and has now started when the cold tap in the bathroom is turned and then off.

Is this a serious problem that l should call out a plumber, l dont really want to look foolish if it is just a simple job then end up paying out a fortune to fix.
