We have plasterboard walls in the kitchen and want to fit a new flush power socket. We're not sure how to do this. It's not the wiring thats the problem, it's the actual fitting of the back of the socket.
please can anyone help???????????

Thanks

the other alternative is if you can locate a noggin and use a shallow mounting box such as this http://www.screwfix.com/prods/39957...leby-Galvanised-Steel-Knock-Out-Boxes-2G-25mm

but you would need to chisel out a bit of a recess in the noggin in order to have the box sit flush with the surface of the plasterboard. Also if this is a box in a ring you might have a bit of a fight on your hands squashing the wires in to the shallow box.

If the plasterboard is just 'dot and dabbed' onto the wall then there is no need to use a dry lining box or 'fast box', screwing a conventional galvanised box onto the wall behind will suffice (you may have to chisel out some wall if the edges of the box are too proud.

Don't forget to notify the work before starting to LABC under Part P of the building regulations.

Thanks to all who gave help and advice problem is sorted now.
Thanks again for the replies :)
