Hi everyone,

Im new to this so please forgive me if I sound a bit green. I have wall light fitted in a bathroom in a house Im moving into. I would like to remove it and safely seal up any live wires and seal up the wall again.

Assuming I cannot remove any wires from the wall or any switches, what is the best way to go about this?

Thanks in advance.

if you know which way the wires come from(floor or ceiling fed) you will usually find a junction box supplying the light. you can disconnect the power at this point. Test with a multimeter that you are disconnecting the right cable. Make sure the circuit is isolated at the consumer unit and not just by a local switch before starting work

When i read that you have a wall light in the bathroom alarm bells started ringing! What type of fitting was/is it? what zone is it in?

The reason I ask is that if it is not to regs (ie wrong fitting type/wrong zone) what else has been done to your installation by same person(s)?

Anyway, to answer your question, you should ideally trace the wiring back to source and disconnect it there, possibly at the ceiling fitting or pull switch.
Need more info for a full answer.
What ever you do don't be tempted to just insulate the ends and plaster over. That's a definite No No!
