hotpoint WD61

will turn on and fill with water but will not spin, can hear a noise like it is trying to turn, but to no avail. had the carbon filters (hotpoint not generic) replaced about 2 months ago, could it be this again? any help will be appreciated

I take it you mean carbon brushes? who fitted them? there is a little remebered fact taht hp carbpn brushes have a little "catch" if this is not released the brushes will not work properly.

I would take them out and have a look and see how long they are (the actual black carbon bit)

although you have a w/d here is a pic of a w/m, it uses the same motor, and you can see where the brushes are (except you will have a few more "bits" in the way)
