ok, heres a puzzling one....
A couple of weeks ago I changed the washer in the toilet ballvalve... it was so old it had deformed and was hardly letting any water through... it used to take 20 mins for the cistern to refill..!!
Anyway, I changed the washer and it now takes less than 5 minutes to refill (fed direct from the mains at approx 1 bar), but occasionally, 2-3 times a day, when its refilling the pipe to the cistern resonates, producing a whining sound for 10-20 seconds, and you can feel the vibration through the bathroom floor.
This never happened before I changed the washer.
Airlock in the pipe...?? increased flow causing the pipework to vibrate...??
Any ideas..???
