extractor fan for tumble dryer
Reply with quote Thanks

We are going to move our tumble dryer to our new toilet room under the stairs, which is on the inside wall of a semi-detached. I want to install an extractor fan in the toilet and run a vent to the outside wall. I don't want to buy a new condensing tumble dryer.

My plan was to get a humidistat fan, and hook the vent from the tumble dryer on to the grill of the extractor fan. Can anyone advise whether this will work - or any problems I may encounter - also any better suggestions would be gratefully received.

Cheers.

May I ask why you feel the need to put a fan on it, the normal way it just to hook the vent straight up through the wall, you may find with the fan that

a) there is not enough air flow through the tumbledryier for the fan to work properly, which could overheat the fan

b) the fan is designed for ambient temperature air, using it to move pre-heated air could cause it to overheat

c) the lint present might clog the fan and cause overheating

d) the tumbledryier may not work as well with more forced airflow being added than it was designed for

I also recommend you request that the mods move this to the appliances section
