Hi folks, a girl at work recently had her fuse box chnaged from the old wire type fuses to the more modern circuit breaker ones. Thing is, every time she now plugs in her televsion in any socket the circuit breaker for the scokets trips no mater what socket she plugs the tv into, any idea what could be causing this?

Assuming that this is a MCB, the cause for the MCB to trip is overloading or an electric short. I believe that if it would be an electric short it would stay down wether the TV is connected or not.
It is possible that the TV is faulty (can be the plug not necessarily the TV itself), if you ask why now and not before, it can be a coincidence.
Does it trip when other appliances are connected?
Do the sockets stay on if she plugs any other appliance into the sockets?
If so then the TV is faulty.
Advise her to have an electrician carry out a PAT test on it. this will show if the appliances is the cause of the fault or not.

Neutral earth fault?

I think you may be confusing MCB with RCD.
RCDs will often not detect a N - E fault until there is a load on the installation.
MCBs will never detect a neutral to earth fault. Ever. They are not designed to monitor for N - E faults. Just like the old BS3036s
