baxi back boiler

So your telling me that when people dont use there back boiler in the summer and use immersion heater. Then turn on the fire its not allowed and is dangerous.
You may have had it out with kev but if you want to read the corgi book (borrow one off someone who ACTUALLY does the job) .
It will tell you it is perfectly acceptable to LEAVE a back boiler in situ after boiler change as long as it is deactivated and to just use the fire. The appliances flues etc are not being altered in any ways meither is the combustion air

I work for baxi....i have no knowledge of any tech bullitins telling us to ID or AR a decommisioned bbu with a working fire.

As long as it is still 'one' unit and it passes flue flow and spillage and the bbu has been correctly decommissioned ie capped, drained and drilled then it's ok.....

Unless you can prove otherwise.............

hi block heads like i keep saying,

states.

IMPORTANR NOTE:-
it is important to stress that not all appliance manufacturers condone
the above procedure and the decision to decommission the back boiler
section of the appliance is ultimately the resposability of the gas oprative
on site.

and baxi do not condone this procedure

The guy works for Baxi and as we all know and read ( in English ) you CAN de-commission a back boiler and still use the fire ( safety checks permitting )

yea can if the manufacture condones it but baxi dont wiseguy.]

Yes they do bawbag i have phoned them on 3 occasions to check.... TRY IT. Dont go on what you have read on here

Baxi do agree the BBU can be decommissioned and left with the fire operating.

However, CORGI were not happy with this.

The CORGI argument was that with the boiler decommissioned the boiler/flue combination would never get checked/serviced and the open flue would never get tested.

A friend of mine ( electronics engineer ) asked me for some descaller tonight for his instant water heater. I asked a couple of questions and discovered its an open flued appliance in his bathroom. I had to point out its dangerous.

He leads a very basic life with no central heating and used to have a Reliant Robin!

You are all wrong why is the world so full of so many fools.

Ok BOB . we have it in the corgi book saying ok , we have a baxi engineer saying they have not been told it wrong , we have a link to a tech bulletin saying its ok. I have spoke to baxi tech who said ok.

Give us your link to prove your right NOW at present

eh? that doesnt make sense. its a gas appliance and should be checked as any other fire should.

'Baxi do agree the BBU can be decommissioned and left with the fire operating. '

Yes they do - no problems as long as smoke/flue tests pass

'However, CORGI were not happy with this.'
The dog is dead

Irrelevant, but go round and ID then.

The main point is.......... yes you can de-commission a back boiler and still use the gas fire as long as all the safety checks pass
