All these stabbings etc. A decapitation in Stockport. A random shooting in Ordsall in Salford. Stabbings on Oxford Street. And on and on and on..

I've been persuaded that the death penalty has sufficient pitfalls to prevent it from being acceptable. However, I'm also convinced that soft prison sentencing and "soft" attempts to reintegrate criminals is inappropriate.

My own view is sole incarceration for those found guilty with absolutely no contact with anyone other than a brief, and this should be witnessed in order that nothing other than legal discussions take place (ie nothing about the real world, nothing about family life etc is ever referred to).

What are your views?

You lose your life if you take someone's. Prisons cost. Dead people don't.

Any crime like that your shipped off to an Island and left there.
No building, just tents.
Food para dropped in.
You are there till you die.

Papillon?

I've been convinced that due to miscarriages of justice, throwing away the key is questionable.

maybe the jury should be increased to 1000 people, and a line drawn in the sand of 95% of the jury ... and it's the death penalty?

2 years on death row - time for 1 retrial..... and that's it.....

I'd vote for that and take my chances....

Death penalty will remove any chance of someone helping with potential other enquiries.

And how long do you wait while they all deliberate...............and how long will it take to get 950 people out of 1000 to agree? A very long time in most cases.
