When installing a new pump do people tend to put paste around the fibre washers on the union that connects to the pump?

Id like to personally rip anyones head off who...
1: uses fibre washers on pump valves
2: even considers using jointing compound on them.


Rubber washers (just over hand tight), silicone grease on the pump threads....... and it'll literally fall out when it needs replacing again.

Where do you get silicone grease? I can never find it.
