I'm having a condensation problem on my bathroom ceiling it mainly happens when someone takes long hot shower, as i can see water sticks to the ceiling though we do have extractor fan installed and we open the window too after shower but the water on ceiling is so much that it takes hours to get dry.

I've also got insulation done in the loft last year, and i did try to move it a bit to get air circulating but it didn't help much.

I don't know what else i can do to stop condensation other than painting it with anti-mould paint like Zinsser Perma White. Do i've to do primer or undercoat before putting Zinsser Perma as i can see plaster board where the paint started peeling?

Here's the photo of ceiling showing condensation and peeled paint.

Thanks

Condensation forms when warm air touches a cold surface. The insulation shouldn't be moved above the ceiling. It seems that the fan just isn't up to the job, Opening a window at this time of the year is no good as the air is damp outside. A more powerful fan may be the answer. It doesn't matter what you paint on the ceiling as mould will still form under those conditions.

You can get ones that have a humidity sensor on them so if they detect the slightest bit of moisture they will come automatically.

Thanks looks really good, though i just replaced my old fan with Manrose Gold i thought it would be good. :(

I'll definitely try this, fingers crossed!

I agree to a large extent, but the Zinsser Permawhite is pretty good and guaranteed not to go mouldy for 5 years. It was the only thing which worked in the bathroom of our student house with six students all having at least one shower per day, leaving wet towels everyhwere and never opening the window
