Hi,

I've recently turned my central heating on, and it doesn't kick in when I turn the thermostat up to maximum in my living room.

It's a pressurised system, and I've ensured there is over 1 bar of pressure on the small tank.

As suggested in your FAQs, I turned the boiler dial right down, and the tank thermostat up to 70 degrees. The radiators warmed up for a bit, but it's turned off again after a few minutes.

There is no problem with the hot water, it's only the central heating I can't get to stay on.

I have a Drayton ZA5 port valve actuator for central heating, and the lever is on A, and the thing at the top which looks like it could move across is stuck fast....that looks more like it's not meant to move rather than the fact it's seized up, as the plastic switch on the main unit is too fat to slide across? Is it meant to move?? I've tried pushing, pulling and wiggling it?
I think the ZA5 is for central heating, and there is another small white plastic box with a dial on the bottom-I think this is for my hot water, and it works fine.

The pump kicks in, so I don't think it's a problem with that.

Any further ideas before I call a plumber??

Thanks in advance,
Rave

Tell a lie, the hot water had switched itself off. I've only just realised, and now I've put hot water on permanent, the central heating is working.
Is this my zone valve causing the problem?

Cheers,

Sounds like it.
