Bookmakers Fred & Peter Dones occupy 97th place on the Sunday times rich list , with a combined fortune of £1.33 bn.

How ever they have qualified for a £22.5m cheap loan from Greater Manchester council housing fund.

The 22.5 million loan will build 2 tower blocks in Salford , comprising 380 luxury apartments plus exclusive gym, bar , bistro and cinema.

To help ease the financial burden on the billionaire's Labour run Salford Council have agreed that they need not pay any planning fees amounting to £1.28 million.

when the loans were made the development was to have included 76 affordable homes. But it was argued that this would make the development financially un viable so the council dropped that requirement

The council also agreed that no section 106 money need be paid to improve local transport.

Perhaps The Labour run Salford council and the mayor of Manchester should talk to Jeremy:)

It was discovered by the "Salford Star" that the apartments were being advertised for sale in Hong Kong by Colliers International , acting on behalf of
Salboy a development company owned by Fred Dones.

Surely Transam told us that the requirement to include "Affordable Homes" was dropped?

If the price and the criteria for choosing buyers were unlimited, can anyone hope to control who the homes are sold to?

Since the days of the dreadful Thatcher woman, Social Housing has not been a priority, and public construction has been positively discouraged by National Government.

Perhaps it's time for a less right-wing government. We'll see what the voters think.
