Replacing Worcester Greenstar junior 24i boiler?

I have a Worcester Greenstar junior 24i boiler which is working fine. Its about 10 years old.

I am an EDF customer and may be eligible for new boiler replacement (I have not contacted them as yet to confirm this).

My enquiry is: Should I get a new boiler from EDF (if I am eligible) or just stick with my current one?

My initial idea is that a new boiler (if its free) will always be more efficient then a 10 years old one.

Any thoughts?

Yep. Subsidising people getting free boilers on a whim is bloody annoying.

It's just plain wrong that replacement of perfectly functioning boilers are being offered for FREE under "partnership" schemes when thousands of folks depend on us to keep their delapidated hunks of metal going because they can't afford the replacement they desperately need.

Get a new one as CWHEATING is an EDF contractor. One of the best he is.

Trouble with all this free entitlement , it makes everything more expensive for those of us that expect to have to pay out way.


Plus, reduces the size of the pot for those that might genuinely need sobbing free/subsidised. Like someone with a dead boiler, young children, and no job through illness/disability.

Stick with your existing one. Energy efficiency gains on a new one will be virtually zero, replacing it will harm the environment far more than keeping it, and claiming a free boiler just for the sake of it may prevent someone who actually needs one from getting one - these free boiler schemes aren't a bottomless pit, there's an allocation of funds and once they've run out the scheme ends.
