Let's not be hard on tax crooks...

not a clue.

I think he might be trying to make a glib remark about socialism being some evil or reductive form of economic organisation which is from the standard Fox News and right winger playbook that any criticism of the current situation can be defended by creating a false impression of what socialism is and then to hammer home the point they reference Cuba, Castro and Venezuela (soundbites matter and they matter more if they are continually repeated). The fact is they are about as far away from the truth and reality as we are of landing a manned mission on Saturn when it comes to understanding economics and socialism.

They won't define socialism as a) they cannot and b) it refers to non market based forms of organising production and control - a prime example being health provision, DEFENCE etc because the free market if left to provide these services will lead to market failure. The same right wingers who will criticise socialism will defend the armed forces which are paid through general taxation (ie centrally planned) - cognitive dissonance 101.

Society hasn't failed as much as the leaders have failed society.

there is a chance that the concerted efforts of the EU27 will tighten up on tax loopholes. Taking the attitude "if you want to do business in our territory, you have to follow our rules."

Until now the giant multinationals have played off individual countries against each other in a Dutch Auction to see who will demean themselves to offer the easiest terms. EU is are already compelling countries to follow the rules instead of welcoming tax-dodgers by enabling and encouraging their slippery practices.

Theresa earlier threatened EU27 that UK would become a tax haven.

Every billion pounds of tax that Google and Amazon dodge, is a billion pounds to be made up by the honest and frugal taxpayers. Or a billion lopped off public services.

Yes, its a shame there is no realistic alternative party.
I'm not promoting them by keeping on mentioning them, but you seem to be ignoring the fact that they exist.

The Liberal party seems ideal for you. An alternative to the unrealistic party in power at the moment.

But this is what notchy is best at...

Spouting nonsense (whilst congratulating himself on his own 'self importance'), and then when an awkward question is asked of him he diverts the topic or slinks away...

Deletion of posts/topics or 'gagging' people are often other options of course ;)

Interesting....

So you think the quote: 'Fidel Castro; a champion for social justice' was written by Fox news.

How do you come to draw that conclusion from what I have written? What point are you trying to make as it seems you fall over yourself trying to make some obscure point to attack your pet Hate Corbyn?

By the way Ban ki Moon said

U.N. Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon extended sympathies to the Cuban people on the passing Friday, Nov. 25, of their longtime president, Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, who he called “a strong voice for social justice.”

Now before you put me in the crosshairs  - I am only interested in the economic argument which I will gladly have.

You have to understand the historic, political and economic situation at the time when decisions are made.

Its not an obscure point at all. It was a tweet by Jeremy Corbyn.

I can understand you may dismiss my post as glib, but it was not.

My concern I see with Corbyn is that he has a idealistic view of politics, not pragmatic. That may be considered visionary but does it have mainstream support?

Corbyns tweet about Fidel Castro rather shows Corbyns vision of socialism that glosses over forty nine years of ruthless suppression of freedom of expression.

I didnt make a reference to economic policy.

Do you think moderate MPs and moderate voters in the Labour party should move to SDP then?

You seem to be saying there is no place for them in Labour. You are telling me I shouldnt vote Labour.

No.
The SDP doesn't exist. It didn't succeed when it did.

You seem to be saying there is no place for them in Labour.
I haven't said anything about them. It is you who is constantly complaining about things you say are happening in the Labour Party.

You are telling me I shouldnt vote Labour.
It is you who is saying they are not near enough to the centre of the political spectrum, for your liking, so I suggested a party that is.

All fine points that can be debated but remind me again how was that quote or tweet by Corbyn relevant to the discussion about HMRC and tax cheats?

Any mention of socialism by definition has to involve economics because it is a form of control and ownership of production unless you see Socialism as something else? If so what?
