Evening, I am a tradesman, if a painter but do bits and pieces .

I’ve been using Leyland Trade Super Laytex and a medium nap Wooster microfibre sleeve.

I’ve roller marks literally everywhere on the ceiling, I’m loading up as much as I can, maybe this is a poor sleeve, getting it on quick but it seems to be driving before I’ve moved on, and I Ain’t going slow.

Am I in need of a different sleeve and paint? It’s becoming a pain in the backside

Well I use a low pile roller, but have only had that when there's too much on the roller. With latex coverings that easily done.

I never use any form of building product thats says “quick or fast” cos I go into panic mode if I cant take my time:)
Oh, and I use short pile sleeve like Millwright..much less splatter when its thinned for misting.

Yeah some mist coating is like having a paint bath
Had no idea it was fast drying as it doesn’t say anything on website description. Will get a different paint and see how that turns out.

I tend to use Dulux supermatt and thin it out a bit with water, always goes on lovely.

I purchased the normal Leyland trade paint which I’ve used before. Went on fine on the walls but still on the ceiling before I’ve rolled and layed it off, where I’ve initially rolled is drying and then can’t be flattened. I’ve never had a problems before. Using a medium pile microfibres sleeve. Will adding a drop of water help? Is the sleeve causing this issue?

As if it’s holding too much on the sides of the roller. Will a short pile prevent this happening?

Ceilings always tend to suction more than walls in my experience, also bear in mind its a good few degrees warmer by the ceiling than it is in the middle of the room.

Personally I'd be tempted to thin it by about 5%. If you have roller marks tho you might need a re-sand and wipe-down first.

Rollers can squeeze out at the edges if you are pressing hard, or if you've dipped the roller too much in the kettle and got paint inside the sleeve. But it should always lay off within a minute or two, sounds like the paint drying is the bigger issue.

Yeah highly annoying. I already sanded and brushed off. I’m going to thin it tomorrow and coat. I had to stop today as I pressed so hard trying to flatten the mark that I popped a drywall screw and had to fill
This is why I stick to fixing boilers

And not so much I had roller marks as in excess paint.... but when the natural light was shining through I could see lap marks

Will I always get lap marks in daylight to a certain degree?
