Best roof breather membrane

Walls are going up this week for the front extension so i am ordering up the materials for the new pitched roof. What are peoples recommendations for breather membrane/felt.

I had seen great reviews of TLX gold which all looked good until i saw the price of it!

Best but not at extreme prices. Its for our own home so we want it to perform. Performance is the key factor over cost but there is obviously a point where performance vs cost become unnecessary.

I have seen the Klober products mentioned before. What is the key factor to look out for? The insulated/foil options seem to be 4-5 times the price of a standard membrane.

Multi foils are not just roofing membranes. They are aimed at insulating. Some like tlx and some of the super foils are both.
So really you are not comparing like for like .
Either you just want a breathable membrane, or a bit of both that's why there's a price difference

I had planned to insulate using alternative methods so just a breather membrane.

Surely the products like tlx don't remove the need for internal insulation?

Any feedback on the pros cons of Klober Permo Forte Vs Klober Permo Air. Both have very good reviews with the Permo Air apparently being the most breathable product on the market.

The multi foils require additional insulation to meet u values.
Their sites have calculators or will work it out for you.
We use k p air where spec calls for it.
For everyday work k p forte is very good.
There is an obvious price difference
Which seems to interest you.

Thanks. I think i will stick with the initial idea of a breather membrane and internal insulation where required.

Both the Klober Permo Forte and Permo Air have great reviews. The air is circa £40 a roll more expensive but over the entire roof will only equate to £200 ish. If it is a better product then i am more than happy to go with it. As i said performance is more important than cost up to a point.

In your opinion is the Klober Permo Air as good as it is marketed as being?

We have used tyvek but imo klober permo is better and reliable in prolonged rain during re roofing

How long can a membrane be left exposed to the elements before tiling before it deteriorates? I had planned to install the membrane on the small extension for a few weeks whilst i arranged the scaffold and roofer to complete the re tile of the entire house.

scaffold before underlay... a few weeks is fine . depending on product the wrapper will state how long for uv exposure
