Whatever the scope/scale of the 'virus' actually is, it appears that the tories are determined to hand out as much tax payer's money to their chums as possible...

But hey, those who will be fleeced the most voted them in!

Blimey, even local Council consultants are earning slightly less than that.

Sad that filly your only response to being fleeced is an attempt at humour. Ah well, Droit du seigneur for you it is. (y)

Well, you wouldn’t want it to go to their enemies would you, Citizen Ellie?

I see the exclamation marks are back!!! :)

You can’t really assess the work based on the metrics in the article. But many global tech firms including those that sir G loves to hate are doing their Covid work Free of charge or at cost. It’s a shame that the management consultants aren’t pricing accordingly (if that’s the case). BCG would be an odd choice, but they are at least a cut above the normal crap that the big firms deliver.

Oracle - you must consult or work for them? Their handling of SUN, Solaris, Mysql, Java etc ontop of their licensing. It will be a great day when companies wean themselves off that.

How can a system cost 12 billion pounds?

Does every App available which you can get for free cost 12 billion to set up?

You can get half a mile of HS2 for that.

You haven't seen the invoices. Think of a teleohone number and then add a few zeros.

Welcome to the Kakistrocracy.

Before the fools deny the £12bn cost.

"I can inform the House that we have now provided over £12 billion for test and trace."

It's a clever Tory scam they have going.

Flog it to private contractors but call it NHS test and trace, so the NHS can be blamed.

It cost £12b because backhanders, arrangement fees, sweeteners, brown envelopes all add up when there's a lot of snouts at the trough.

Surely the 12bn is for all of it?
training, PPE, Testers, systems, kits, labs, transport, people etc..
Its probably £10-15 for the kit and there are probably 50-60,000 people working in test and trace.
That would get you annual costs of over £8bn.
Also the word provided, doesn't not mean the cost as at today - it can easily mean allocation.

Global firm BCG charged £10m over four months to deal with UK test and trace network, source says, as Tory reliance on private sector seen to grow.

Senior executives from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) are being paid fees equivalent to £1.5m a year to help speed up and reorganise the £12bn network that Boris Johnson said in May would be “world-beating”.

World beating fees if nothing else.
Saw this the other day and was reaching for my phone to check sirG hadn't beat me to posting this :)

I heard the consultants were getting 7000 a day I bet they're not and the wnker account managers are creaming it.

Deloitte has 1000 consultants working on this. I would suspect they are charging about £2k a day on average so about £2m a day.

Now how good are your Excel skills?

I guess they have IR35 plus dividend tax plus previous loan charges to pay they may just break even ;)

I used to run an AT batch converting xls to mdb and run my whole intranet off it for years :d shh don't tell anyone.

Those figures sound remarkably familiar...

£12bn contribution, but actual outlay £8bn...

Amazing how a while ago the 'horror' at that amount caused the nation to jump off a cliff, but now it's just 'pocket money'
