Cutting oak sleepers to size

I’ve bought some 100x200x2400 untreated oak sleepers. I will need to cut them to size. I have the DHS680 circular saw and was thinking of just doing shallow cuts on each side.

Will it have enough power to cut through the oak? Or should I use another method?

With a sharp blade a DHS680 should be able to cut through oak (I have one myself), although you might find that you need to do each of the cuts in two passes depending on how dry the oak is. If you need a new blade I'd recommend deWalt Extreme blades over Makita - the DT10624-QZ 24t is probably the best best (available all over the place, even ToolStation and SFX sell them)

Thanks. Early on I swapped over to Dewalt extreme blades (I think after a post on this forum) and prefer it over the makita.

I have cut many sleepers, I mark all way around, then cut with a circular saw on all edges, then the final cut of say 10-20mm with a panel saw.

You could even do it with a hand saw as they are quite small. But your arm may fall off when you finish.
