Can these be sited on the ceiling? Pretty sure it says below 150mm from the ceiling thanks.

It is certainly possible to buy carbon monoxide alarms that are designed to be installed on a ceiling. The Aico Ei3018 is one example. When mounted on a ceiling it should be at least 300mm from any wall or light fitting. If mounted on a sloping ceiling it should be at the high end of the room but at least 300mm from the apex.

Wall mounted detectors should be at least 150mm from the ceiling.

The idea is to avoid mounting the detector in areas where the air doesn't move much.

1. No, they shouldn't be installed on the ceiling. As you say, minimum of 150 mm below ceiling on a vertical surface.
2. Have a look at https://www.fireangel.co.uk/installing-your-carbon-monoxide-detector/#:~:text=The alarm should be at,high side of the room.
To quote from the page that you linked to:
If the alarm is located on the ceiling:
It should be at least 300 mm from any wall and any ceiling obstruction e.g. light fittings.

So you have identified another one that CAN be installed on a ceiling.

Yes, and have done for some time. Have you already bought one? If so read the instructions to see if it can be ceiling mounted. If not, you have lots of choice if you want to ceiling mount one.
