Gate valve on hot water under floor boards

I have a gate valve that feeds the hot water taps in the kitchen below, beneath the floorboards of an upstairs room. It's fully open, and I'm not touching it. Now, before I replace the floor in the room in question, should I really get htis removed? What's the likely failure risk if it never gets touched again?

Depends on what it's connected too, usually a gate valve would be used of low pressure (gravity) Hot Water (HW) supplies i.e. HW that's supplied from a cold water cistern in the roof space.

No point in having a gate valve under the floor if it's no longer used or the HW is now mains pressure. I would recommend the valve is removed.

What function does it perform? If it's redundant then get rid. If it's not redundant then you need to relocate it so it's accessible.

The previous owners of the house did a lot of the work themselves and had this tendency to put gate valves wherever they were going to do planning work for example into an extension that had a shower. Originally there were 2 water supplies coming into the house as it was split and I suspect that this valve was put in around about the time that they were trying to pull the water supplies together and route hot water to the kitchen.

So right now it has no purpose whatsoever. And it might well have been there for decades.

Very likely, I've done the same myself (though did put the valves where I could get to them easily). Get rid.
