Irrelevant. The councils are crying poverty while demanding roughly 5% rises from even the poorest, payable under threat of prision, while paying themselves massive amounts.

You don't "level up" by taking from the poor and giving it to a few privileged elites in that area.

You seemed to be making some political point scoring about the next govt that is likely to be Labour putting up taxes.

Your wife is in one the mostly poorly funded NHS sectors, it’s ridiculously underfunded, staffing levels as far as I can see are consistently below what should be considered safe. U.K. perform pretty badly on childbirth stats - around fifth from the bottom on infant mortality compared to rest of Europe. If your wife is still in the NHS, it must be very stressful.

Classic divide and conquer, get the proles to fight with each other about whether this bunch of parasites is better than that one while the rich take everything.

The ruling elites are the real issue, they run both of the main parties so it doesn't matter who you vote for.

One party shamelessly lie, while running down public services for selling off, and shovelling cash and contracts at their mates.

The other, ideologically and in reality, don't.

"The share of patients in England waiting longer than four hours for emergency care in hospitals was five times higher last year than 10 years ago, official figures show.

The proportion of people facing long waits in accident and emergency departments across the UK rose sharply in the past decade, according to a report by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday.

In England, 42.4 per cent of people waited more than four hours to be seen in A&E in September 2023, up from 8.1 per cent in January 2013, the ONS found.

In Scotland the figure rose from 11.7 per cent to 33.5 per cent over the decade. In Wales, it jumped from 15.6 per cent to 40.5 per cent."

Back to the OPost, the more assets are sold off the greater the council tax rises, because there is no return on capital that is spent on services. There are a lot of over paid senior officers in public sector but to compare them to the PM’s salary is laughable because the benefits to the PM in terms of accommodation and post retirement security are worth millions a year.
