1st Feb 25% tariff on Mexico + Canada, 10% on China

I would love to know what he's up to. It is a very strange tactic to not let the other side know what you actually want.

But I do think that Trump is doing tremendous reputational damage to the US. Who is going to trust them now to honour treaties and agreements? China could well be the winner from all of this.
No sovereign nation trusts any other sovereign nation more than what works at the moment.
Each have spies all over the place
They have alliances, but when things change treaties change.
China being the winner in a trust competition.......
:ROFLMAO:

18% of American exports go to Canada.
77% of Canadian exports go to the US.

I wonder who will suffer most?
And back down first
USA will suffer most…..prices in the shops and gas stations will go up starting Weds this week

It’s not costing Canada anything…..the tariffs will increase prices in America.

You might claim that America will stop buying from Canada…..but where will they buy from instead?

Over half of Canadas exports to USA are made up of oil, gas, coal, car parts, aircraft parts etc…..none of which are things USA can switch in the short term.

Are they tariffs, or trade sanctions because of the drugs coming in illegally? Supply and demand means prices will go up for drugs and legitimate imports. If the Yanks want a Merc they will pay more for it, rather than buying a Caddy.

Well 1% of Fentanyl comes in from Canada

I believe most originates in China, not sure how it comes in

I disagree. I believe historic alliances count for a lot. UK, Australia, Canada and NZ will still trust each other. China mighty not win a trust competition, but if America destroys the alliances it has spent generations building, they could well win the game. I find it very amusing how some people will ditch all their principles to deify a POS like Trump.

Well MP Barry gardener had a Chinese spy working in his office :giggle:

Than there was that MP in government working for the Russians :giggle:

Dare say the a French scoundrels have got bugging devices all over Whitehall :giggle:

The CIA bugged / hacked Merkels phone :giggle:

Report on the news ! That Starmers phone has been hacked by the Russians :giggle:

Wow.

And, for arguments sake, let's assume China set up shop in America to avoid tariffs. Costs will be higher as they cannot possibly make low cost items as they do now. You may think that's a good thing but it will only mean costs rising sharply in the States, while Trump has promised to lower them.
Relocating to the U.S. is pointless because Chinese manufacturing is based on very cheap labour which translates into cheap products.
The reason most businesses moved manufacturing to China was the cheaper cost of manufacturing.

China are clever enough to sit back and play the diplomacy game (better than trump) and get the results Trump doesnt want them to get
Ancient Chinese philosopher Sun Tzu in his book, 'The Art of War,' said, never interrupt your enemy when he is in the middle of making a mistake.
Trump needs to read more.
