1st Feb 25% tariff on Mexico + Canada, 10% on China

The other thing I have just been wondering is, how will the American people react to the bullying of Canada. Has Trump given a convincing reason why he is doing this. How would British people feel if we started an extremely aggressive trade war with Ireland, without specifying why.

In your earlier post you said trust, so I assumed this was a typical bank UT. Do you know the ticker symbol of your ETF? There are a few. was it VOO?

The global techs will mostly be immune to Trump's game, though the EU might punch back at the FANGs. The index Trackers will be hit, but that window has already closed.

Are you after capital growth or income?

It's not about Canadians. Canada has some juicy tax incentives and some fairly aggressive anti-offshoring policies.

that's VUSA. Same thing really. Different Trackers mix different stocks to achieve their track, they don't buy every stock. 22% is not too bad.

I'd look at these when the market settles:

I might have put on this myself in a week or two.

That's the first thing that struck me. How on earth could Trump do this to one of their closest allies, without even discussing any possible solutions first.

Like I said previously, his MO is to shock first, then (not) pick up the pieces later.

Many thks I shall have a look at the mega cap growth fund

I have no idea what that reply means!

So, is that what this is all about?
Ireland is a good example. Arguably these juicy tax breaks makes them a bit of a parasite on their neighbours. How would the UK citizen react? Well it would likely cause business/jobs/trade to relocate to the UK.

Its images like this that don't help:

Images like that are the best reaction.

Actions of doing it are even better

Have you ever considered being a politician

But seriously, the two points I asked were about the aggressive bullying of a small, very friendly and close ally without giving any reason. I believe the UK people and the US people have more morals than you seem to. Certainly a sense of fair play is one of the British values I have always been proud of.

And you do realise that photo came after the tariffs were announced. I don't think even the dumbest Trump supporter will fail to understand the chronology or think that Canadians are being mean to them. You often seem to like to find a way to blame the person being bullied.

Yes I am aware of the timeline.

Do you think it's coincidence that the global high techs chose Dublin as their European HQ? It wasn't because they were partial to Guinness.

The sign replaced the product, so the consumer has no choice... in that store at least.
Good.

Buying non USA product will help.

Trump wants Americans to buy made in USA product. If the rest of the world buys not made in USA it will reduce the hurt.

It just means the rest of the world will trade and avoid USA over the long term

Isolationism isn't the way forward right now
