Canadians boycotting American goods

Well to obtain more money for the state trump could have put up tax

Like er well
Hmm similar to national insurance on bussiness that type of thing may be

Some one must have done that sort of thing :giggle:

By making Americans pay tariffs on imports, Trump is increasing tax.
what you dont think american public will chose to buy the same /similar product cheaper from a tariff free country

what you dont think american public will chose to buy the same /similar product cheaper from a tariff free country
So you think imports from Canada will stop? And by the same logic Canadians will stop buying US goods.

Could you name those tariff free countries where the 'american public' could purchase the "same /similar product cheaper" from?

What your saying there isnt countries that would be up to 25% cheaper than the tariff loaded countries .?

why would they stop and vice versa the tariffs have not came in on either side did you miss that ?

The who,e point of tariffs is to change purchasing behaviour in more than one direction. Americans will change their behaviour, and other countries will too.

It’s way too early to comment on the effects of the tariffs yet. One thing is for sure, the whole world is moving towards the right.

Is it any clearer what Trump will want from us. Several papers are mentioning that he wants the digital sales tax scrapping in return for not implementing any more tariffs. I had never actually heard of that tax!

Trump supporters say: “it’s fantastic, he gets things don”

Yeah he gets things done….he makes things worse for America

There are almost always alternatives. US products are now at the bottom of the list.

And no, Trump’s grandstand play today - a so-called 30 day delay - won’t change anything at the consumer level. Ottawa may have put their retaliatory plans on hold, but they’re still ready to go.

Boycotts and cancellations at the provincial and consumer level - that train has left the station. It’s heading down the track, and it won’t turn around anytime soon

Examples of recent grocery shopping:

  1. Fresh fruits - Canada first, then South America
  2. Citrus fruits: Spain, not USA
  3. Vegetables - Canada first, then Mexico, then - only if absolutely unavoidable - US.
  4. Canned products and other non-perishables - check the label first!
  5. Travel plans - cancelled or altered. I had two trips to the US scheduled for this year and next. They’re now cancelled, and it would take a miracle from Trump - for example, Trump magically acquiring some intelligence - to reverse that decision
Our kitchen stove died earlier this month. The appliance salesman showed us a couple of US models - Whirlpool, from a Red state. We said “no thanks”. The salesman said we weren’t the first. We bought LG from South Korea. Not only are they consumers of Canadian aluminum, but they had the guts to arrest an insurrectionist president.

Liquor sales in Canada are a matter of provincial jurisdiction. Every province in Canada is removing American products from liquor store shelves. Again, it will take a lot more than an easily-broken promise from Trump to change that one

When I go out to my local tonight, Notch, I'll make sure I have a Jack Daniels and drink to your health. I worry the stress of voting for Brexit, then being hysterical because you got what you voted for - followed by a second Trump victory isn't good for your heart. I may have a bag of peanuts as well, maybe they were even grown on Jimmy Carter's farm.
