Canadians boycotting American goods

Stammer faces a challenge negotiating with the Don. Does he go in hard and threaten retaliation like Canada, or capitulate like Mehico. The conventional wisdom is to show strength and offer him something that looks like a win. Trumpf likes strength and success and Kieth has a massive majority courtesy of last years election.

The who,e point of tariffs is to change purchasing behaviour in more than one direction. Americans will change their behaviour, and other countries will too.

It’s way too early to comment on the effects of the tariffs yet. One thing is for sure, the whole world is moving towards the right.
Yep, and why? Cause we've had enough of the woke sh1te and immigration at ridiculous levels. Our esteemed leaders thought we'd continue to put up with it. They were wrong.

what you dont think american public will chose to buy the same /similar product cheaper from a tariff free country
Will it be cheaper though, or just not as dear as the goods with the tariffs added ?

It's this thinking that tariffs make home made products cheaper (it doesn't) that lets trump get away with his expensive cost ideas.

And dearer prices because of the tariffs.

Tariffs don't make things cheaper. They just raise the price of the imports so the local produce looks more competitive.

But at no point has any price come down, it's increased

By making Americans pay tariffs on imports, Trump is increasing tax.

Yes exactly

And done at the stroke of a pen

As opposed to actually raising income tax which would take months of arguing with congress

Plus the public will probably not blame trump ???

Sounds like most political party supporters members :ROFLMAO:

And not exclusive to the US either

Obviously no one could pull the wool over your eyes :ROFLMAO:

Certainly not by any political party.

I'm not a follower of any party, I float .

But we can all be conned. Some more than others. More often and more easily.

Tariffs are just another form of tax paid by consumers.
Trump wants cut taxes for corporations and the rich,so the money raised from tariffs should replace that which has been given away in tax cuts.

His plan to return manufacturing to America would require devaluation of the dollar in order to make American goods competitive abroad, does devaluation of a currency cause inflation.

It does and that would adversely affect the less well off. Chinna will give him a few wins on tariffs but they will continue to do their manufacturing. You cannot undercut a ten year o ld doing 12 hour shifts assembling i phones

So many people don't seem to understand tariffs. No wonder it was easy for Trump to fool the base.

In a recent Ipsos poll, only 45% of Americans were able to correctly select the definition of tariff from a list of statements. "a form of tax imposed on imports from other countries paid by the importing companies and is at least in part passed on to the consumer". The second most selected answer was the lie promoted by Trump "the exporting country pays a tax to the importing country" (17% of respondents). 23% of Americans admitted that they have no idea what a tariff is.

Surprisingly, that's actually better than the understanding on diynot
