As the Balfour declaration said, "it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

Israel has never considered itself bound by the words of Britain or France, or anyone else.

Could you imagine going on holiday and leaving a spare key with your neighbour, only to find that when come you back, your neighbour has flogged your to house to some dodgy foreigner.
 
Well that is basically like it is for. Israel. Bethlehem is considered to be the birth place of jesus and the Jews are not allowed into Bethlehem even though Jesus is allegedly a Jew. Although Jews think of jesus as god, Bethlehem is a big problem with both Palestine and Israel both claiming it is their territory. Religion causes more problems and wars than it is worth.

I went to Bethlehem in the early 80’s on my way home from South Africa. Saw where Jesus was allegedly born. From what I remember, it was a bit of a shìt'ole.

ha ha. yes it is, its a cave that isn't even impressive inside.

No I dont believe they mentioned that, I am not a religious person and so my understanding of other faiths i s not the best, as far as I believe that the jews do not recognise that jesus was the son of god as they only believe in one god so I assume that they think of jesus as god. I suppose you will come back now after googling everything I say to say different.

When we visited Bethlehem our Jewish tour manager came with us

Yep, it was a sh*thole when I went there...

Of course if you look at the reasons why and those responsible then it's no surprise ;)
