How’s Rachael from accounts getting on…..

That's an invented comparison, It doesn't exist in the real world.
It would be like saying 10 mph at the start and 60 at the end, so that makes acceleration (rate of change) as 16.66%, which is nonsense.
its basic maths.

My sons happy. His mortgage speed just went down to 4.6%. I'm ****ed. My ISA speed is down to 4.35%.
I was referring to the rate of change, or speed of change, not simple percentages.

Like the earth's escape velocity as 11.2 k/sec is a simple measure. Whereas acceleration is a compound measure, it involves a rate or speed of change.

its basic maths.
It's pure invention.

Find the equation for comparing the rate of inflation with one time period compared to the rate of inflation with another subsequent (or earlier) time period.
The nearest you'll get is compound interest.

You're talking utter nonsense and you've been found out... again.

time for a new user name perhaps?

Diversion tactics again. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It's always your resort when you've been exposed as a mathematical dunderhead.

Did you have any luck finding the formula for rate of Change of Inflation rates? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seems you have made a valid point, Gas clearly referred to the change of inflation rate in his post... Oh wait he didn't:
poor old rachel 34% increase in the inflation rate in a month

I said "Rate of Change", not simply change of inflation.
Are you being deliberately obtuse?
There is no valid measure for Rate of Change of Inflation.
Inflation is a simple measure.

I guess compound concepts are difficult for you and gas to understand. So you should stick to simple principles.

ahh so you introduced something new, pretended its what Gas meant, so you could argue he was wrong on his calculation.

We got there in the end.

Tommy Troll is led by his neurodivergent traits, I don't quite see him as being a paid up member of the group I affectionately refer to as "the forum idiots".

There is no such measure of comparing the inflation rate of one time period wit the inflation rate of another subsequent time period,
Rate of Inflation is a simple measure of the change in prices over a given time period.
There is no measure of the Change of Rate of Inflation.

All you can do is use the start date of the first period, and the end date of the second period to calculate the percentage change in prices.
Gas invented some mysterious arithmetic which doesn't exist to make a point. He only succeeded in making a fool of himself and you.

I don't think division is a mysterious arithmetic.

3.5 /2.6 =1.346

Find an accepted formula for the Rate of Change of the Inflation rate, and I'll use that.
In the meantime your presentation of a few useless numbers are exactly that - useless.

According to your formula the Change in Inflation for last August (2.2%) to last September (1.7) was .77
and according to you and gas that computes to a Change in inflation rate as 77% :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It was only 4% fo the whole of the year. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
