Hi

My ideal RS60 has become slightly noisy when fired for about 10-20 sec then back to normal. Any suggestion which part is causing this?
The noise is slightly higher than normal operation, not a banging noise.

Thanks

A few things, but gas related. Does it get serviced?

Its cast iron burner group, if its not been serviced then a partial blockage of the burners by debris.

The boiler is unfamiliar to me, but the noise could be flame lift-off that settles down as the firing rate cuts back after the initial ignition sequence.
Does the burner modulate, or is it high fire followed by shut down on command of the thermostat?

A lot of balanced flue classics are now of an age where the flue is rotting inside the boiler and getting holes in them so you maybe getting a bit of mixing and flame lift .
Boiler needs stripping and checked by a pro

It's an ancient boiler, with a cast iron heat exchanger, obviously doesn't modulate. Flame lift off, is likely correct, due to the need for a proper service.

It has been very reliable for the last 23 years, no idea when previous owner installed it, and hence want to maintain it.

My neighbour bought worecester bosch, lasted less than 15 years.

Modern boilers are just not designed for a long working life, just get it serviced.
