The two Bobs

you were driving at a 100 mph in "20 Zone" ! - how many people were injured ? none! - then no crime has been committed

You should test that out. Find a place where you know there is a speed camera. And then use that argument as a defence.

If your argument about the language used being a proxy attack they will surely get much longer. Noting in fairness that no charges have been brought or any convictions made.

Is "Death, death to the IDF" a well known chant like "From the river to the sea". It's not one I've come across before.

The band have released a statement. The relevant bit is here:

We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine.

Never heard of a non violent military machine,. Be a bit pointless having one if that were the case.

What would the man on the Clapham omnibus have thought about these chants!

Not a clue but it’s inevitable they will be prosecuted because according to mbk’s link it’s not just about intention, it’s whether it’s likely the words would stir up hatred.

I was mainly wondering whether it was one of those chants the CPS has already looked at and decided doesn't meet the standard for prosecution. The CPS don't like to lose high profile cases.

...and if that is against a protected group. A simplistic reading of the law implies that a military force is not protected.

NI citizens chanting similar about the parachute regiment wouldn't be prosecuted for example.

The interesting bit is how much of the population actually agrees with the sentiment.

The majority of Brits think we should have an arms embargo on Israel for their war crimes.

Despite that the news and politicians are amazingly gentle on the Israeli government.

Couldn’t see anything about a protected group, everyone is surely entitled to proper protection of the law.
