Hey there,

I’m Carlos Vega from Torrance, CA, messing with home projects since 2010. Our coastal winds here dump leaves, pine needles, and salty grit into my aluminum gutters, clogging them fast before winter rains hit. I’m thinking about DIY gutter guards to cut down on cleaning, but with salt air corroding stuff, I’m unsure what holds up—mesh screens, foam inserts, or solid covers? What’s your favorite gutter guard for debris-heavy coastal areas, and any tips for installing them to avoid rust or UV damage?

Our conditions and building conventions are not the same as in your country.

I would suggest that taking a walk around your neighbourhood would be the best way of finging out.
Look at what others are using/doing.

Lidl, or Aldi, regularly have for sale a fine roll of mesh, complete with clip on brackets. It just clips across the open top of the gutter, catching such debris, letting it dry on the mesh, once dry it blows of with the wind. Quite effective, and not expensive.

My house sits on the English south coast in West Sussex and I understand your problem well. My guttering is 'protected' by something known here as a 'hedgehog' and it is very effective. It is supplied in various lengths and is easily fitted.
