Electric VW so cheap.....why

First thing I'd would say, the battery capacity is small, so the range is pushing the bounds of being useful at all: 82 miles is quoted, so likely a bit less.

After a quick skim of the advert, I couldn't see any charging details for the van.
It could be that it isn't equipped to accept faster charging so, combined with the low range, would make it impractical for many.

Im thinking this. If a new modern battery was a quick swap then easy.

Unlikely to be easy or quick nor cheap.

SpeakEV.com is the forum to ask on / trawl to see if it has been done.

I suppose its a " He who dares wins" . 5 years of trouble free motoring with hindsight cover the cost of a chuck away van.

New technology may make these van more valuable a there may become as cheap easy conversion as there maybe with classic cars.

It'll be perfect for the right customer.
IMHO, it is so cheap though because "the right customer" is a very small pool in this particular case.

What you thinking would be the Idea customer?

Someone with need of a van, very local, and off-road parking to which they could have a home charger installed.

One of the beauties of EV is how cheap they are per mile, IF you charge them on off-peak tariffs.

But that only is an advantage over ICE if you can actually do it.

Why is this so cheap.
It isn't. Even when new, those VW efforts were overpriced junk.
Bought only by those who mistakenly believe that VW vehicles are somehow superior to others, and would probably buy a dog turd if it had a VW badge stuck on it.

Random example of what's available for a lot less: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/van-details/202507254836793
which has a bigger battery and significantly larger range. It's also fully fitted out with racking inside, whereas that VW thing has nothing.

If you don't like that one, there are plenty of others, also see Citroen e-dispatch and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric which are basically the same van with a few minor variations.
Plenty of those available used now, as many fleets bought them in 2020/2021 and are now replacing with newer versions.
