He has trouble completing a thought

And then there is the Tariff stuff, pre trump the EU were paying about 4% in Tariffs, now the EU are delighted in getting a deal where they will oly be paying 20%
US to EU , EU people also pay vat at around 20% so, er 38%. The VAT is on the shipping too, the tariff isn't.
EU to US they pay the 15%.
STill pretty good, which why Von der L accepted it.

The bloke is wiping the floor with us - and the well named Looney Left think he is an idiot !

But EU doesn’t pay the tariff, USA importers do.

It turns out Munroast is the idiot

Nothing wrong with tariffs if used to protect your domestic economy.

The problem with Trump is that he is using them as a geopolitical weapon to effectively dictate to other countries who they should and shouldn't trade with.

America has lost the confidence of the rest of the World, even so called allies are looking to reduce their reliance on trade with America.

You do realise that Europe don't pay anything, it's the American importers?

So all these nations around the world have been wrong to worry about tariffs - LOL

They don't want the price of their goods to go up and make them possibly less competitive, but it is a fact that the exporting country doesn't pay the tariffs.

what a daft way of looking at it

Yes it is short term pain for america and trump told and warned his country this - but long term it may be very good for the US economy. He is trying to bring jobs and control back to his own country - the sort of opposite of what we are doing where we sell off all our assets to far flung nations, heck we don't even own our own water now.
Trump wants to be an independent self reliant strong nation, the sort of opposite of our idiotic situation. (we are trying to build our economy by inward migration, the more people the higher the collective GDP (even if it makes us all individually poorer))

Why do you think the rest of the world is clamouring to get a better deal ?

"Yes it is short term pain for america [sic] and trump told and warned his country this - but long term it may be very good for the US economy."

That sounds like the argument used for Bre*it: "you'll see the benefits in 50 years time", sort of thing.
Nonsense.
All manner of circumstance will change in the long term not directly related to trump's tariff war that have an effect upon the economy, for which a future administration will claim credit.
