I think it’s fair to say the plan to replace lots of local councils, including ours, isn’t likely to save any money based on what I’ve read over the last few months.

Angie decided in advance what she was going to do. While there are obvious savings in things like support services by joining a district and a county council, creating three sets of adult social care/education/children's services/highways authorities when there was one before will cost more. It's the Prescott effect, give the deputy PM something nice and shiny to play with and send him off out of harms way. The left are kept happy.
