So I finally got around to laying the sub-base for my patio, it is fairly level and happy with how it has turned out. Finished up around 2 weeks ago and was going to crack ahead and lay the slabs on a full bed of mortar.

However there was about ~two weeks of downpour here in London with on/off unpredictable showers. The week ahead seems to be good weather (no rain). As I am doing the work alone without a cement mixer for a garden of about 5.5 x 4.5m and have maybe 4 hours to spare daily.

Is the current weather a good time to be laying slabs given it can get to about 6-10 degrees at night? I also hope a week will be enough for me to finish off as never done it before and would prefer to take my time doing it right levelling it all off properly.

if youve got a powerful cordless drill or small kango you can use a mixing paddle for the mortar

anything down to freezing is fine -even a bit below freezing at night is ok if well covered with hessian etc

Rent a cement mixer, you won't regret it.
It's not expensive and fits in any car with back seats down, so you can pick it up.
