It is only USA's veto that is preventing the UN (and thus all the other countries) allowing PAlestine full membership of the UN.

That means if Palestine is attacked, it can ask the UN for protection.
It can demand International protection for its people.
If the borders were recognised, israel would have to leave those Palestinian areas.

That is why Israel and USA want to prevent Palestine having full membership of the UN.
