Who owns Britain?

I did a job for a guy who ran a consultancy business, he got public service contracts -mostly NHS

he drove a top of the range Porsche, had a £2.5m house in Sussex and a huge place in Portugal

Ive also had clients who ran recruitment agencies -also absolutely creaming it

too many people making a ton of money out govt contracts

the cost of agency staff in NHS is colossal

my understanding is PCTs cant afford to employ people because of "budgets" but are short staffed so have to pay bank staff.

Interestingly a mate of mine from Uni joined the NHS in recent years, he has an MBA so probably got a high salary (I dont know how he got an MBA, he isnt all that bright, knows how to play the game and look good, one of those people into golf and networking)
yes Blair / Brown govts 1997 to 2010 continued neoliberalism

notably the commodification of education: free school academies, and the beginnings of privatisation of Universities
Blair made the NHS the best it had ever been...but he did using private equity, making future generations pay by way of PFI interest

Starmer Labour govt is unfortunately using the same neo liberalism with private equity being used ever more -some billionaire Labour donors are the same ones the Tories had, theyve just transferred their support to who they can influence

of course lets not forget though that Conservatives have been in power 32 years of the last 45 years
I remember making a sh*t tonne of money out of old-new-labours PPPs. What a disaster they were for the future tax payer.
We layered companies on top of companies, consortiums and partnerships and even created royalty models to defeat the "profit caps".
Tubelines, metronet, where are they now? I paid my mortgage off thanks to Old-new labour.

Free Marketeer promises:

Leaving the EU single market was meant to allow the UK to strike independent, more advantageous trade deals globally, boosting exports and growth. Fail.

Removing EU regulations was intended to make UK businesses more competitive, leading to lower costs and better consumer products. Fail.

The overall goal was to use free-market principles to increase disposable incomes, expand education, and reduce poverty. Fail.

Taking us out of the EU was supposed to curb immigration and control UK borders. Epic Fail.

Its almost like the EU wanted to make an example of those who left the club.

For decades, sociopathic Conservative MPs and the hysterical tabloid press have framed unemployed people, carers, & even disabled people as ‘lazy work-shy scroungers’ and an unproductive drain on resources, whose motives and ability to work must be assessed by corrupt organisations incentivised by draconian targets, by profit and by cruelty.

Yet at the same time, tax-avoidance has become ever easier for the very rich — many of whom help to fund & support the corrupt Conservative Government. Shell-companies and tax-havens mean that desperately needed taxable wealth can all too easily be concealed from the under-resourced and largely ineffective HMRC. Hedge-funders, investment companies, and disaster capitalists bet against British businesses succeeding, and wealth inequality has reached unimaginable levels, to the extent that globally, at least $30 TRILLION is hoarded offshore, by people who really don’t need it.

Nobody promised you anything. You are the only one who can change your life.

Ordinary people pay money into pension funds which they hope are invested well to pay for their retirement so they burden other tax payers less.
Dreamland.

State assets owned by foreign interests.

who writes this guff. lets lump the genuine "can't works" with the lazy "wont works" and blame the Conservatives.

politics of envy.

UK debt to gdp ratio

Labour had prudent budgeting and actually debt to gdp ratio was lower in 2007 than they inherited

of course it all went t1ts up in 2007 / 2008 due to GFC

Ah right... ignore that massive spike in debt that their policies resulted in then. In fact they left the country with almost double the debt to GDP ratio that they started with.

not to mention the whole goal of Brown was to off-book the debt, while saddling the future tax payer with massive costs.

I used to have a customer who tried to consult with the NHS to make savings in the local trusts here. Let’s just say resistance to change was the norm
Yep. The same across most government departments. Nu-labour deliberately detached public services from political leadership to try and ensure everlasting socialism whoever we elected. From above the UK via the EU dictating policy, and from below via quango-run public services. The government in the middle is largely a talking shop.

The tories failed to tackle the blob, so just allowed massive waste and snouts in the trough to continue. Hopefully Reform will actually do what's needed and smash the lot up. But they'll face massive resistance. The stupid media stories are already happening, this is what happens when you're a threat to a mafia.

Agency staff are something completely different to bank staff.
Your "understanding" is wrong because bank get paid the same as regular staff.
The staffing was bad a few years ago when they had to go to Portugal and Spain to recruit but we have much more of our own staff now and agency staff use has fallen.
Bank staff earn the same as "normal staff" and are called in to cover sickness / maternity leave. Bank staff are an important part of the NHS - they are employed by the NHS - they pay into the NHS pension They are NHS staff. Also they get to choose when they work so they can work around a partner and child care. Bank staff are not a "problem" they are integral to the running of the NHS
