Rose tinted memories? Lucky you didn't cross paths with these lot during the carefree days, or the hundreds of lesser known cases.
More cases are reported now, because more people report cases (and the police take cases more seriously).
But there is no evidence that there are actually any more cases per head of population, or that different ethnic groups are more likely to carry out these crimes.
  • 1970s Police Stats: In 1970, there were only 784 recorded rapes in England and Wales.
  • Modern Stats: In the year ending March 2024, there were over 68,000.
  • The Reality: Victim surveys (like the CSEW) show that the actual experience of sexual assault has remained relatively stable (between 2% and 3% of the population) since records began in the early 80s. This proves the "increase" is almost entirely down to victims finally feeling able to speak up.

The 1950s & 1960s​

  • John Christie (10 Rillington Place)
    • Location: Notting Hill, London
    • Date: Active 1943–1953
    • Details: Murdered at least 8 women, including his wife. He used carbon monoxide to incapacitate victims before sexually assaulting and strangling them.
  • The Moors Murders (Ian Brady & Myra Hindley)
    • Location: Manchester / Saddleworth Moor
    • Date: 1963–1965
    • Details: Abducted, tortured, sexually abused, and murdered five children and teenagers aged 10 to 17.
  • The Cannock Chase Murders (Raymond Morris)
    • Location: Staffordshire
    • Date: 1965–1967
    • Details: Abducted and murdered three young girls (ages 5, 6, and 7) following sexual assault.

The 1970s & 1980s​

  • The Yorkshire Ripper (Peter Sutcliffe)
    • Location: West Yorkshire & Manchester
    • Date: 1975–1980
    • Details: Murdered 13 women and attempted to murder 7 others. The attacks were sexually motivated and involved extreme violence.
  • Dennis Nilsen
    • Location: Muswell Hill & Cricklewood, London
    • Date: 1978–1983
    • Details: Murdered at least 12–15 young men and boys. His crimes involved strangulation followed by necrophilia.
  • The Railway Killers (John Duffy & David Mulcahy)
    • Location: London & Southeast England
    • Date: 1982–1986
    • Details: A series of 18 rapes and 3 murders of young women carried out near railway stations.
  • Robert Black
    • Location: UK-wide (Scotland, England, Northern Ireland)
    • Date: 1981–1986
    • Details: A delivery driver who kidnapped, raped, and murdered at least four young girls across the country.

The 1990s​

  • Fred & Rosemary West (The House of Horrors)
    • Location: 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester
    • Date: Discovered 1994 (Active 1967–1987)
    • Details: The couple tortured, raped, and murdered at least 12 young women and girls, including members of their own family.
  • The Sidney Cooke Gang (The "Dirty Dozen")
    • Location: London / East Anglia
    • Date: Convicted 1989 (Active 1970s–80s)
    • Details: A pedophile ring responsible for the abduction, gang-rape, and murder of several young boys.
  • James Bulger
    • Location: Bootle/Walton, Merseyside
    • Date: 1993
    • Details: The abduction and murder of a two-year-old boy by two ten-year-old boys (Robert Thompson and Jon Venables).

  • Demographics: The vast majority of people arrested and convicted for sexual offences in the UK are White.
  • 2023 Prosecution Data: White defendants accounted for roughly 70-75% of all sexual offence prosecutions where ethnicity was recorded, which is broadly in line with the general population of England and Wales.
  • Proportionality: There is no statistical evidence from the Home Office or the Office for National Statistics (ONS) that suggests any minority ethnic group is disproportionately likely to commit these crimes compared to the White majority.


So no need to panic over the boats. The real problems are home grown. And, today is the safest this country has ever been. In the year ending March 2025, the homicide rate in England and Wales was 8.6 per million people. This is the lowest rate since 1977.

So no need to support the radical further-right groups that are constantly lying to you about the problem of the boats. Instead, vote for a government that will actually use tax payers money to improve infrastructure and society, rather than swindle it all away for their own personal gain.
