It's not rocket science is it.
Years back migrants came in numbers of low tens of thousands. My dad (Indian) was one of them. He came across to work via legal routes and worked. Hard. He did his best to integrate, socialised with the local Scottish community (that's how my Scottish mum met him, in a pub).
That's not what we're seeing now.
How did the powers that be ever think a so-called open door policy x years back would be a good idea? I think Merkel herself has since intimated the policy was flawed.
Labour is apparently reducing the immigration numbers, by a fair whack. Good. However does that include those coming in via illegal routes? Maybe it does, I've not fact checked.
The entire west needs to have a joined up approach to the migration question. It's not going to go away and, if the experts are to be believed, will get worse in coming decades due to climate migration etc.
