Yes correct but is 4 core & E readily available as such?
Single, Single & E, T & E or 3C & E are pretty common ad readily available but 4 core isnt? unless you using 5 core lex equiv to 4 cores plus an E conductor or 5 cores of SWA

The borrowed neutral was always something that shouldn't be done done and just lazy really

I think it was but it didn't matter as much with re-wireable fuses....well for it to work but it was still dangerous.

The action which resulted in a shared neutral was of course deliberate, but what I meant was there was never any deliberate intent to create one.

I've known installations with a common neutral which were absolutely deliberate.
