Hi I'm very glad I've found this forum! I'm sure I'll be using it time and again!
My question is this, I have a 1960 property which had a front room open fire plus back boiler, that went along time ago, but the pluming still remains,..........(there's a beginning of a song there) there has been a modern gas combi fitted which does a great job but, I would like to see an open fire/boiler replaced.
Now is it possible to have a fire/boiler installed and coupled up the now existing Central heating circuit?

This doesn't really make sense. All the back boilers i have twinned into htg systems have been woodburning stoves, which people are attracted to as it reduces their gas consumed, albeit the savings are minimal. Obv this wouldn't be the case in your situation as your back boiler is going to be gas anyway. Also never heard if this type of set up on a sealed system so wouldn't advise it. what is the background to your fire/backboiler, and why has it been out of action?
why not just have the fire and back boiler stripped out and replaced with a fire?

That's what I've just done. I now have a modern combi boiler, attached to my existing CH (I did not replace the Rads or pipes to them).

My back boiler has been decomissioned, and I'm now replacing the fire with something that looks nicer, using the existing gas pipe.

As the previous reply said, I'm also confused about some of your questions to be honest.

Hi, its been a while but here goes, going over my original post, I think I could have done better to explain my what I'm wanting to achieve!
The solid fuel back boiler was removed from the front room and capped, end of, a combi was plumbed into the kitchen, what I would like to know is this, if I was to fit a multi fuel stove with boiler back in the front room would I be able to plumb it to the existing heating system thus letting me have a choice! (used in parallel) that's it!

Your heating system is sealed, and therefore you cannot connect a solid fuel back boiler to it in a similar way that you cannot connect a solid fuel boiler to an unvented cylinder
