It's not about generating extra revenue

No, the gist of this thread has been about breaking a temporary (safety related) limit on an empty motorway in the middle of the night. Which was relevant to the point of the thread, which has been explained enough times, though you still can't quiet seem to grasp it.

At no time have I sought to explain my offence, why the hell should I?

I'll pay the fine and take the endorsement, what was it Softus was saying about not being the sharpest tool in the box.

Well, Softy me ol' mucker, I am at one with you over that. Bikers make better drivers - official. Personally, I think that all learner drivers should have a spell on a bike as part of their training, might help to make them slightly more aware of goings-on outside their cocoon...

hopefully not, but probably, trying to open another can of worms.....if you are trying to convince me that the majority of bikers make better road users my personal experiences disagree.

I concur.

Something that's very disappointing is that we have someone who claims to be a trained traffic policeman posting on the topic, and yet he's utterly failed to take the opportunity to share his knowledge, experience and training with anyone, preferring instead to get into arguments caused by him mis-reading the OP.

"Pathetic" is the only word I can think of to describe that attitude, but fortunately it isn't representative of the majority of traffic policeman I've encountered over the years.

There are couple of very blinkered people on this thread, it actually amazes me.

in reference to your statement that you dont care what anyone thinks. a fine attribute for a man supposedly tasked with weighing up arguments or opinions before making a fair judgement on whether or not to proceed with some manner of legal action or arrest.

you are not the same traffic cop who thought he would try to report me for dangerous driving before i pointed out he had done the exact same thing whilst trying to follow me in an unsuccessfully covert manner are you? i rathered enjoyed that one.

Better in what way - keeping to speed limits? Probably not . However, much better in terms of actually having more of a clue about what's going on around them and way ahead in front and actually looking beyond the end of the front wheel and being far more aware of bikers when they're in their cars, in comparison to non-riders, I would wager.

A question Guiseppe, how many accidents have you had over the course of your driving career? And how many of them would you be willing to admit to being down to you?

Only one. I went through a green light - the other guy was looking for street names and went through a red one. Nothing I could do other than T-bone him. No-one hurt - not speeding. He admitted blame. Now if that had been a prat doing 138mph - the story would have been different. Grow up and play racing games on the track - if you dare. Leave the roads for sensible people.

Sensible and safe driving (and riding) has nothing to do with reaction times.

Anticipation is the key. I can't remember the last time I was surprised on a bike. In a car - yes, because I get lazy and let my mind wander, but never on a bike. If you know what you're doing you can anticipate the most bizarre things long before they happen, and thus avoid them. You can even prevent a lot of them.

Like kids on bikes and dogs and meteorites?

How many 'accidents' have you had then?

Did he finally admit it? He's posted a piccy of his tool in the past - but it got deleted.

Doing 138 through a set of traffic lights is a sliiiiightly different scenario from doing the same on an empty dual cabbage way. Mind you, he'd have been through and gone before you even dawdled over the line :).

Yes, Dad. Sorry, Dad.

How many 'accidents' have you had then?
Going by the quote marks, are you also referring to those of the baby-making kind? I did have to swerve to avoid a child the other day - fell right out of bed.

On the basis of accidents without quotation marks meaning those of the road-going variety, just the one, in 32 years - and that was on the bike, when I was taken out by a dippy car driver. She got 8 points and a £300 fine; and I got knocked out and busted up, but lived to speed another day  .

Still waiting for an apparently quite reasonable sum in compo for my troubles to come through :). There's no justice in this world, is there, Joe?!
