would appriciate a little help!

I have the above boiler, but it recently started playing up, when the boiler is started either HW or CH it goes through the pre ignition and lights as normal. however after approx 10 seconds the gas will go out and it goes through the pre-ignition again and lights. this happens constantly all the time.

The CH and the HW gets to the required temperature, in just a little longer than normal, however its a bit noisy, in that the chamber has gas in it when it relights, a little bang. but I am concerned that if it continues like this it will burn out the soloniod or the ignition module.

There are no reported faults: I guess as it appears to only work during its ignition stage (ie when it is supposed to sense the flame).

Thinking that the sensor was not detecting the flame correctly I got a replacement sensor from Parts centre only to find out it was the wrong one, had different bracket on it. tried it anyway no difference.

The ignition system is direct electronic, no pilot light.

So I am really stumped, had the boiler for 5 yrs and have only had to replace the ignition module 3 years ago and the diaphram last year, other than that it has been a fine boiler, despite the reputation. I know some of you will say that I have been lucky. but I have serviced it every year following the instructions. If I had not lost my job recently I would have replaced it with a gleaming new efficient boiler. but cannot do that at the moment so I would greatly appriciate some advice.

Additional info, probably not related but just in case!
It also had a problem with the gas around this time in that it was fluctuating, however when checking the gas pressure at the gas valve, the pressure was constant.

I have tested the obvious things like the fan, stripped, cleaned and checked the flue, checked the pressure sensor/switch appears to be ok.
I.E. when I removed the air tube from the switch to the fan housing, the boiler shuts down. The fan runs at a constant speed. The water pressure is 1.9, I released any air in the system, around the pump - tiny amount but gone.

I gave it a very good service, including removal and cleaning of the burner. which cleared that fault.

Not a corgi engineer.

Dont really know your boiler but a common symptom of the ignition pcb.

Assuming its powered constantly.

Soo much for Parts Center's policy oif not selling gas parts to anyone not Corgi Registered.

As you can guess I am not an engineer but a competent person with electricty and gas.
We don't need to guess, you've told us all enough that it's obvious to tell you aren't at all competent to work on that boiler.

I like to test everything more than once if you know what I mean.
But you don't know how to!
Leave it alone.

Well shoot me down with a feather, I thought this site was all about giving help, not critisim, you are right, I am not a corgi registered engineer, and I never said I was! but I have worked with gas and electricity in the past as a fitter for 5 years, so I know more than the average joe!

Hi Rob, as I suspected, but I was kind of hoping for a cheaper solution, I cannot see a way of test this without the use of a replacement, which is an expensive way to find out that it is or is not the right part.

Thanks for your help anyway,

Just incase anyone has come across this particular fault on this boiler, please advise
