To really undestand what it means to have No Power, just turning off the main switch on your CU for a while will give you a taste but it wont be long before you give up and turn it on again. To really experience No Power properly spend a few days camping or visit some of the many mountain bothies scattered across Britain. This is one bothy I visited while mountain biking in the Galloway Hills. The only electical power there with us was the batteries in our bike lights, a couple of LED torches and handheld radio.
The only form of energy available there is when you gather wood, chop it, split it, and feed it to the fire.
It is a great thing to do for a few days, it makes you appreciate having instant power at home!
