    Whats this cable?

Even using the 1.724 figure it doesn't add up correctly. And those resistance figures are the figures for the relevant conductors as per the British standard - that was just the best link I could find to clearly show the figures.

    Boiler stand by problem

No u haven't replaced any sensors, not sure where they'd be or if they're easy to change?? It has a condensor trap and pipe coming from the bottom and I've disconnected that to make sure there were no blockages or anything - also can't see any leaks

    Whats this cable?

Temperature was based on 20 degrees as per standard. Again I think your right with the 100% pure bit but I believe copper in cable is almost 100% pure. Copper resistivity is 1.678 x10-8 ohm/m. Resistance = (resistivity x length) / CSA. I think we've well and truely deviated from original...

    Whats this cable?

Following on from this if you have a 1.69mm like the original post - this would fail to meet the resistance requirement - so best to get rid I think! :)

    Its a ferrolli f30b

    Whats this cable?

Yes I think your right john - but if you do the maths behind it the max resistance requirements of cable are actually higher than if you calculated it out using coppers resistivity. For example 1.5sqmm if calculated equals about 11.33 ohm/km and the Max resistance for 1.5sqmm cable in British...

    Whats this cable?

With regards to cable cross sectional areas - the requirement to meet for cable manufacturers is the electrical resistance. The actual size of the conductor is not a requirement. So you can get conductors which will not equate to exactly 2.5sqmm in size but still meet the requirements of a...

    Boiler stand by problem

I'm taking the advice on board that I need a new boiler! Even so, with regards to the problem I've tried to describe does anyone have any ideas what it could possibly be Just so I can try to get sorted until I can get someone in to replace Its very cold!! Lol

    Boiler stand by problem

Hahahaha!! Now that made me chuckle! Even in my time of dispair you have to keep a sense of humour. And that is the reason why its a case of fix it myself or a new boiler - no plumber want to work on a ferrolli! Lol

    Boiler stand by problem

I'm after some help before I resign to having a new boiler fitted! Firstly its a ferrolli boiler (which every plumber I've spoke to said they don't want to touch or try and repair! Lol) I had a problem with the pump (not working at all) so I replaced a few months ago and boiler worked fine...

    Signal Booster Without Splitting???

Radial circuits is what I am thinking! Lol The feed to the rest of the house is in the wall in front room - so you have to use the output from tv into wall and then that carries the signal to rest of house. Is that even normal? I expected to find a 6 way box in loft or something and then run...

Insulating floor above garage - joists on slab

I did this about a year ago and had no issues. It makes a world of difference to the room above though - a lot cosier through winter :D

    Signal Booster Without Splitting???

Hi all I have been in my new house a year now and am looking to boost tv signals around the house. I have 6 antenna sockets already installed in the house, living room, dining room, bedrooms. However the signals are quite weak and can be a bit intermittent. I think that all of the rooms...

    Floating floor - levelling

Hello all. I am soon to put a 'floating floor' in my garage. I am going to lay 100mm jablite / king span depending on how much foot traffic I decide will go through there. I am then going to lay 22mm chip board on top. However. I have an approximately 20mm slope which on my current concrete...

    Wooden floor onto concrete slab

Is there any particular size joist which is require? Or just what ever fits? The room is only about 5m by 3m and I will span the 3m section. If I'm using brackets (and noggins to provide support) should I leave gaps at the end of the walls? Or cut the joists tight to the walls? I have also...
